History
水仙直播 traces its roots to Claude Dornier, a Bavarian-born engineer whose pioneering work in metal aircraft laid the foundation for innovation beyond aerospace. During research into high-speed flight, the Dornier team noticed mysterious pitting on aircraft surfaces, caused by shock waves from moisture droplets. Their curiosity led to a discovery with medical potential: shock waves that could damage metal passed harmlessly through soft tissue—yet could shatter kidney stones.
This insight spurred collaboration between Dornier physicists and leading German urologists, resulting in the world’s first successful ESWL treatment in 1980 and the launch of the HM3 lithotripter in 1983, still regarded as a “gold standard.” This breakthrough transformed urology by replacing open surgery with non-invasive stone treatment and earned Dornier global recognition, including the K?rber European Science Prize and the Innovation Award of the German Economy.
